IS YOUR AIR CONDITIONER ON ITS LAST LEG?

IS YOUR AIR CONDITIONER ON ITS LAST LEG?

We know it, nobody wants to buy a new air conditioner unless they need one! But how do you know if there is life left in your unit?

As the season begins to change and the long days and sunshine remind us that Kearney is barreling toward summer do you know what to look for in your Air Conditioner to know if it is reliable for the first heatwave or the third?

Questions to ask:

DO YOU USE YOUR A/C A LOT? The more you use your A/C the greater the wear and tear. Having your Air Conditioner serviced is the best way to know how much life is left but you can check for these three things yourself.

THREE SIGNS TO LOOK FOR:

  • AIR ISN’T COLD: this may sound simple but it is necessary. Check to see if your thermostat fan setting isn’t on “auto” rather than “n.” If it is set to on your AC will constantly blow air even if it isn’t immediately cooled. If your AC is set to auto and the temperature is not working on your thermostat that is a strong possibility that someone needs to check it out.
  • DECREASED AIR FLOW: how well does air come from the vents? Do you feel it blowing through as much as you have before? When was the lat time you changed your air filters? After checking your filters and the problem is not resolved CALL COLVIN’S!
  • MAKING WEIRD NOISES: When your A/C kicks on it shouldn’t make a clunky sound when it first starts, it shouldn’t make clinking or rattling while it runs, and if you have to turn up the music while its running you definitely have a problem. If the parts of your A/C are coming loose and rubbing against each other there is going to be a big problem! BETTER CALL COLVIN’S!
